Huel Black Edition: A review

Huel recently released the “Black Edition” of its Huel powder in the flavors chocolate and vanilla and since I have been using Huel for quite a while I think it’s reasonable to write a review.

If you would like to read a general introduction to Huel and its benefits I highly recommend you my other article.

First, lets start with the obvious: The new packaging. It’s black and looks pretty decent. Unfortunately no black shaker though (at least for me).

Nutrition-wise the “Black Edition” contains 33% more protein and 50% less carbohydrates. What I personally experienced is that it’s less filling and the feeling of hunger rises more quickly than in comparision to the tradititional version. But that’s the general consequence of consuming less carbs.

On the other hand, since it has more protein, it might be more applicable as a post-workout shake than the original version.

An actual game changer is that the “Black Edition” doesn’t contain artificial sweeteners anymore. Yes, you can taste a slight difference: It’s not as sweet but I appreciate that. Hence, the “Black Edition” might be a great alternative for people which didn’t like the taste of the original.

To be honest, I have only tasted the vanilla flavor so far but what I can say is that it’s definitely an improvement
